Our vineyards are selected as "Cultural Landscapes" by UNESCO: winetours sparks land discovery and learning

Would ever think that a "vineyard" could become World Heritage? It happened in Piedmont where UNESCO has sought to protect the landscape that vineyards embody as a whole.
All Piedmont vineyards landscapes are historical and cultural sites, from the Castle of Grinzane Cavour to "Infernotti" Monferrato, true works of art where it is kept the wine for home consumption.
The "Cultural Landscapes" are defined by UNESCO: Tongariro National Park in New Zealand, Portovenere and 5 Terre in Italy, the Uluru Kata Tjuta in Australia are well known examples.

Visit "The Vineyard landscape of Piemonte: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato", inscribed in  in the UNESCO World Heritage List, since 22 june 2014

As IOWR we feel particularly consistent in this message that we are implementing in the vineyard and cellar with our sustainability  techniques.

Interesting is the article by Giancarlo Gariglio, published last year on Slowine, stating Organic conquered Langa. The article triggered some interesting debate, that we definitely support, about the need to preserve the landscape through a better integration of crops, fruit trees and more. Many of our vineyards are in fact guarded by trees to preserve the microclimate.

This is why you cannot miss the surrounding of our wineries:

  • Neive: do not miss the clock tower at the center of the medieval village and Casa Cotto dwelling, the oldest in the country dating back to the thirteenth century, or the Tower of the Monastery of the tenth century (learn more on ilTurista.it )
  • Agliano Terme: 6 km from our winery you can visit the Castle of Costigliole d'Asti, the hot springs La Fons salutis and Fonte San Rocco offering healthy waters to cure respiratory and digestive diseases  (read more on  visititaly.it )
  • Castle Stefanago: Near Fortunago, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, the castle is also home to one of our Farmers Associates; the castle of unknown origin seems to date back before Christ; the tower of the eleventh century, but the reason to visit is just the landscape, an exceptional panorama full of mountains, green hills where agriculture MUST be necessarily sustainable in line with the beauty of the place. • Santa Giustina, Bolzano; in addition to Schwarhof, the farm owned by the family Loacker, not to be missed in Bolzano: the Museum of Archaeology South Tyrol, the old town with the charming Piazza Walther, the Duomo and shopping at the Arcades. For nature lovers, do not miss the cable car on the Renon plateau where the peak offers a unique view and you can visit the Pyramids of the ground, an extraordinary natural phenomenon. (Learn more at Ritten Renon)
  • Montalcino, Siena; do not miss the view from the Rocca, the fortress in 1361, famous all over the world and the Jazz Wine Festival on July every year, or St Antimo's Abbey (visit the Festival website www.montalcinojazzandwine.com )
  • Cerignola, Apulia: do not miss the sanctuary of Our Lady of Alta Ripa Ofanto, and the cathedral from the '800; enjoy the beauty of the Gargano in the landscape, a few kilometers far (learn more about paesionline.it )
