Grape variety: 100% Sangiovese Vinification: The Pomace is immediately vacuumed sealed and then distilled in order to preserve and maintain all the characteristic intact. Colour: Pure crystal white Nose: Fine and fruity fragrances, reminiscent of peach and apricot. Taste: Soft, sumptuous and enveloping, elegant fruity. Closure: Glasscork. |
PIEDILUPO
PIEDILUPOAging: 24 months in 15 hl barrels (Oak wood)
Type: Red Still Grape variety: 100% Barbera Winemaking process: grapes facing west, 420 meters AMSL, clay soil, Guyot arrangement, 5.000 stumps per hectar. Organic growing, manual harvest at full maturation with selection of the grapes. Crushing by de-stemming and contact with the peels for a few day. Fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks, maturation and aging in big oak barrels (15 hl) for 24 months. Tasting note: red, still wine of a ruby red color, with a fruity, wide fragrance and harmonic, persistent taste with pleasant floral notes and a thick silky body. Serving note: ideal for a robust cooking, with grilled meats, game, cooked cold cuts and stews. The suggested serving temperature is 18° Curiosity: Piedilupo is the name of the eldest vineyard of Castello di Stefanago. About this vineyard there is a legend that tells about a "giant arrived from the north" who brought and planted fir the first time the grape, unknown in the territory at that time, and then in the cellars of the castles "...where no sunbeam nor bell reaches..." the grapes harvested have become a wine which express the meaning of this land and of the work of the people who inhabits it. That's how, the legend says, the history of the wines begins at Castello di Stefanago. |
